Readers of The Testament of Shadows and the Mysteries of the Loogaroo, Volume I, should have noticed that using Levantine symbolism in terms of the first Upyre we speak of the union of Belial, also known as Kingu or Samael, and Lilith. The Setian Gnostic thread of lore stemming from such works as the Gospel of Judas shows the use of biblical symbols and persona to transmit truths that are outside of the biblical paradigm. In the Gospel of Judas the story of the Rabbi and Judas is told in such a way as to transmit a form of the legend of Osiris and Sutekh with Sutekh as Judas being the causal and catalytic power in both the story and the cosmos. In The Testament of Shadows the Upyre race evolved or arose in the Levant starting at Edom the “red land” before spreading through the Earth. It is held by some of the holders of The Testament of Shadows that Adam was not the first human but rather the first Jew and that Eve was seduced by Helel and produced Cain the fraternal twin of Abel the son of Adam. Eve was not the first wife of Adam; first he took up with Lilith who was not of his people but Adam was not worthy enough to cause Lilith to accept his lordship and she was rejected. Lilith was found and accepted by Belial with whom she mated and produced a son named Kane, not to be confused with Cain son of Adam.

Kane is called the first alchemist because he took a jewel or meteorite and from that forged the weapon that became known later as or as part of the Spear of Destiny. The jewel or meteorite used to make this weapon is of the same type as that which the Grail was made from known as Lapis Exillis, the stone that bleeds. There are those that see the Lapis Exillis as a jewel from the crown of the Dark Lord lost in the start of the Great War while others see the same as the actual flesh of Tiamat containing her Blood, in any case the stone of the alchemists. Kane mated, it is said by some, with four of the daughters of Lilith and thus produced the four tribes of the Upyreshi descended from the first. This legend has been told many times many ways but the fact is clear that the Upyreshi and Man are not related save as predator and prey. There are those that conflate Kane with Cain and term being an Upyre or vampyre an aspect of the curse put on Cain by the God of the Jews for Cain’s killing of Abel. No curse of any god would have made the sufferer of that curse stronger than the people that said god blesses and make the sufferer semi- divine, i.e., immortal. The mark of Cain is held by many cabalists to be a tattoo or brand in keeping with Jewish law stating that those with such a mark are outside of the Covenant. The mark of Kane is usually shown as a lone or third eye symbolizing the active pineal gland giving the biological root of the powers of the Upyreshi.

The pineal gland is activated by the individual being in darkness after which the gland emits its own light; the gland is also stimulated by exposure to the Lapis Exillis as well as the technology of ritual action and meditative thought. There are some that see the forging of the spear as being symbolic of the awakening and cultivation of the potential represented by the pineal gland. The pineal gland is the highest evolution of the sperm from which life evolved; one can see the gland as the head of a dragon with the nervous system being the body of that dragon or vice versa. We can now see the Upyre as being a serpent or dragon with a humanoid shell or form, the serpent also being shown in the fang symbolism almost always linked to the race as well as an active pineal gland, which is why some say that the race keeps the lore of alchemy. The lore of the serpent or dragon having a race is echoed in the Edomite tribe of Dan which is to say the “judges” of the Levantine tribes linked to the symbolism of the viper. The serpent symbolism of Edom linked to the red land which is said to be under the hand of Samael is why the naga or serpent is a touchstone for the House of Rakoczy.

The pineal gland is active in darkness and responds to ritual which is also true of the rest of the R complex of the humanoid brain. The pineal gland controls those systems of the body that manipulate the form of the body as seen in shapeshifting and stigmata. Do not the traits of the pineal gland when seen in an occult standpoint answer the traits of the Upyreshi and the vampire of legend? Would not a being or a race with an active pineal gland such as we describe thrive in darkness and avoid the light of the sun, because the light of the sun would weaken the being’s own inner light? The working of the pineal gland is affected by the levels of melatonin and serotonin active in the body. By taking in the proper biological medium from the prey in the proper state the Upyre balances these chemicals in his own body and thus gains in health and power. When an individual’s levels of these chemicals drop, the pineal gland responds by activating the changes in the mind and body that gain the body more of those chemicals. The “changes” are seen in the eyes and often in the gums, as well as the hands in some cases symbolized by the mythic traits of the vampire. This is the biological cause for the hunger of the Upyre for the energy carried in the Upyre’s individual medium and the vibration or mind-body state for the prey of that particular Upyre.

Why would an Upyre’s levels of melatonin and serotonin drop in this way? Why do humans get hungry? Energy is used and materials are needed that the body does not make is the answer to both questions. It is no more a curse, handicap or illness for an Upyre to feed than it is for a human to eat. Part of the reason the hunger hits an Upyre is exhausting the individual’s personal power or Kia and other is being active during the day also burns through an Upyre’s reserves of energy including but not limited to Kia. Some call what Upyreshi take from their prey starfire and this is seen as being what the Elder Gods or Apkallu took from the Old Ones or Annunaki and the Great Old Ones or the Igigi, i.e,. the First Tribe. However the essence is named or understood the Upyre has evolved to take it from humans, but which humans? It cannot be all humans because there are not enough Upyre for that so what is the process of selection? To be fed on by an Upyre the human must be open to the influence of the Upyre on an auric level; humans open themselves by violating their own standards thus weakening their own aura. As we have shown the prey of the Upyre to a degree selects itself just as in nature with predators and prey. This can be seen in the Old Testament where those in Egypt that used lamb’s blood to mark their home were passed over by Azazel the spirit that is a union of Belial and Lilith; Azazel here can be seen as showing the influence of the Upyreshi.

The Upyreshi can be seen as a curse to those humans that damn themselves but no more so than the sheep that leaves the herd and is taken by the wolf. Both the wolf and the sheep or the Upyre and the damned serve a need for the other, the Upyre is to the human a goad for evolution while the human is prey for the Upyre and thus a means to sustain the Upyre. As times have changed Upyreshi have become symbiotic predators feeding on the willing showing the role of evolution in the Upyre race. As for the damnation factor in donors this has largely become a matter of unexpressed desires based on conditioning, i.e., “I want this it is wrong therefore I must suffer” and the Upyre provides the “suffering.” Kane was always a hunter and so his seed are meant to hunt; part of being a hunter is taking no more than is needed, making all stronger in the process of being true to nature.

What does all of this bio-spiritual lore and hunting philosophy have to do with Cain and Kane, and why should Cain matter to an Upyreshi at all? Cain and Kane have become conflated in the collective unconscious of the world making it needful to figure out which person is being spoken of when studying the son of Belial and Lilith or the son of Eve and Helel. Cain’s lines on Earth are demon-human hybrids or Tartarians and they struggle against Upyreshi as surely as Enochian or Elder Watchers do in the guise of the winged avatar of angels. Tartarians also hunt humans to cause damnation in a human, i.e., get them to accept that they are damned and thus consume them, or consume the already self-damned making Tartarians seek much of the same prey as Upyreshi. One reason for this is that two families of Upyreshi stem from two Old Ones that sided with Tartarus against the Dark Lord and the Elder Gods as well as the God of the Jews. One of these lost Old Ones is the Lord of the Flies and the other is God of Frogs which explains why some Upyreshi side with Helel though he is an inmate of Tartarus, not its ruler. Where Cain is the child of light turned upon itself, Kane is the child of darkness, a part of nature doing what its nature is to do.

Some view Azazel, the spiritual union of Belial and Lilith, as being the actual spirit that once animated the soul that was Kane, while that soul or personality became the aspect of the Dark Lord that is his voice called Hastaruha or Sutekh in Book I of The Testament of Shadows. It should be noted that Kane is also shown in the Bible in the guise of Nimrod who has many if not all the traits of Kane, which is dealt with in The Testament of Shadows. Upyreshi are a reality that can be traced in history if one knows where and how to look, as their influence can also be observed in history. By stating the lore of Kane as opposed to Cain, The Testament of Shadows and House Rakoczy as its medium is evoking a resurgence of the primal lore and the eldest forms of the race. Kane is symbolic of the first of the Upyre race and so his is the Blood that binds all: “One blood; one race; one people with one destiny this is who we are” as the motto states. The symbols of Kane are the spear, which is also sigilized as the fleur-de-lis, the eye and the serpent that takes in its own tale. Two fleurs-de-lis can be seen on the Star of Azoth: one for the spear of destiny and the other for Lilith because the lily is holy to the Goddess. Where Lilith is Belial also is, as seen in the inverse cross on the Star of Azoth and thus on the Star of Azoth we have the unity of the Blood: Belial, Lilith and Kane.

Let the Upyre take back the lore and gnosis of Kane from the profanation of Cain and the astral images of the media that seek to set the Blood against its own essence. Every Upyre that makes the most of its essence is evoking the atavism of Kane, just as every Upyre does that grows his knowledge and power in a way like no other. Legends point a way out to the individual but are not meant to bind anyone; they are mirrors that should show the individual what is within them that is in no other. In uniting the body, soul and spirit through the will, the individual is using the atavisms of the past in order to move forward in the present, creating the future. In evoking Kane, the Upyreshi start to unify as they were once as the first tribe from the four that the first tribe evolved into. From one tribe to five, one below and four above, back to one and that one is the living image of the God that birthed the Upyreshi as a race and a people. Beyond any name or form, the First Upyre contains the knowledge and power, the potential of the whole of the race and every individual Upyre has a reflection of that same potential. Every Upyre is the “one apart from the many” and thus “an old order of the ages begun anew” as set down on the Great Seal of the United States of America. The cross of blood and fire made of the two fleurs-de-lis and the inverted cross can be seen as the mark of Kane versus that of Cain.
